The 62nd annual Fiesta Noche del Rio – a music and dance
performance featuring selections from the countries of Mexico, Spain, and Argentina, and the great state of Texas – is preparing for its annual summer season of performances. The show, officially partnered with the City of San Antonio’s Tricentennial Celebration, will feature a special edition showcase, playing to the special cultural attributes that are hallmarks of its international renown. The shows play every Friday and Saturday evening, at the historic Arneson River Theatre, from Friday, May 11th, through Saturday, August 11th, 2018. All shows begin at 8:30 p.m.
The Alamo Kiwanis Club Charities, Inc., has been producing Fiesta Noche del Rio continuously since 1957, when it was asked by the San Antonio City Council to stimulate interest on the River Walk. The legendary Rosita Fernandez – “San Antonio’s First Lady of Song” – created and performed in the original production of Fiesta Noche del Rio. Since 1995 the leadership of Noche del Rio has drawn its creative direction and energies from Elizabeth “Lisa” Sanchez-Lopez – director, choreographer and lead female singer. 2018 marks her 27th year at the helm.
There will not be a performance on May 19th. Armed Forces Parade will be taking place.
Sponsored by the Alamo Kiwanis Club.
