Holding Up The Mirror: Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the 1968 U.S. Commission on Civil Rights

Presented by the 50 Years Later Committee and Our Lady of the Lake University – Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the 1968 U.S. Commission on Civil Rights just three years after the 1965 Voting Rights Act, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights held six days of hearings in San Antonio on the campus of Our Lady of the Lake University. The purpose of the hearings was to focus specifically on the Mexican American population of the United States, their rights as citizens, and the challenges faced in the community. This national conference will focus on the past, the present, and the future of the six topic areas: Education, Economics, Employment, Justice, Immigration, and Voting rights.
