Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson Elected President of Tricentennial Commission
Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson was elected president of the San Antonio Tricentennial Commission today, following confirmation votes by the San Antonio City Council and the San Antonio Tricentennial Commission. Dr. Matson, who had been serving as a member of the Tricentennial Commission, was nominated last week by Mayor Ron Nirenberg to lead the commission.
The San Antonio Tricentennial is a year-long celebration honoring 300 years of the city’s rich heritage and diverse culture. An estimated 700 organizations are expected to host some 500 events with the help of thousands of volunteers throughout the year, with a total economic impact on the city of more than $100 million. Dr. Matson will oversee the commission charged with leading the overall effort while managing a multimillion-dollar budget.
